Tigray Culture, Languages, and Heritage

The 5th Annual Mahlete Gumaye Cultural Event will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, from June 24th to 25th, 2023, and is calling for abstract submissions for research presentations on Tigray Region’s culture, language, and heritage with special attention to “cultural cleansing” as it pertains to the people in Tigray. We welcome abstracts that explore these and related themes and look forward to a dynamic exchange of thoughts. The people in Tigray have affluent linguistic and heritage values with distinctive cultural practices. Nonetheless, during the last couple of years, their ethnolinguistic identity and cultural heritage values have been threatened. This event, among other things, aims to provide a platform for researchers to share their findings and insights on the theme.

Thematic Scope:

• Tigray folksongs: Gumaye and others
• Tigray material culture, social performances and folk arts.
• Languages in the Tigray National Regional State (Tigrigna, Saho, Kunama, Gǝʿǝz, etc.): history and development.
• Ethno-linguistic, cultural-heritage values, and identity in Tigray.
• The impact of the genocidal war and cultural cleansing on the emotional values of the societies in Tigray.
• Preservation of endangered socio-linguistic values and cultural heritage in Tigray.
• Tigray cultural rehabilitation and healing.

Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and must include a title, author(s) name, affiliation, and email address. The submission deadline is April 16, 2023, midnight Geneva time, which is directly to be sent to gumaye.org@gmail.com. The presentations will happen in a hybrid format of both physical and virtual (zoom) formats. Selected papers will be notified by April 24th, 2023. ቕርሲ፣ ቋንቋን ባህልን ትግራይ

5ይ ዓመታዊ ዋዕላ ማሕሌተ ጉማየ ካብ 24-25 June 2023 ኣብ ከተማ ስቶክሆልም (ስዊድን) ብድምቀት ክካየድ እዩ። ኣብቲ ዋዕላ ብቋንቋታት ትግርኛ፣ ሳሆ፣ ግዕዝ፣ ኩናማ ባህላዊ ምርኢታት፣ ስራሕቲ ኪነ-ጥበብን ሥነ-ፅሕፍን፣ ኻልኦት ነፀብራቕ እሴታት ክልል ትግራይ ክካየዱ እዮም። ብተወሳኺ ድማ መፅናዕታዊ ፅሑፋት ክቐርቡ እዮም። ህዝቢ ትግራይ ኣብ ምብራቕ ኣፍሪቃ ወናኒ ዕድመ ፀገብ ቋንቋን ባህልን፣ ታሪኽን ቕርስን እንትኾን ኣብቶም ዝሓለፉ ክልተ ሰለስተ ዓመታት ግና ሓድጉን ባህሉን፣ መንነቱን ህልውንኡን ኣብ ሓደጋ ዝተቓልዐሉ ኽስተት ተፈጢሩ። ስለዝኾነ ድማ “ዕብየት ባህልና ድምቀት ህልውናና” ብዝብል መሪሕ ቃል ኣብ ዝኽበር ዋዕላ ማሕሌተ ጉማየ ኣብዞም ዝስዕቡ ዛዕባታት መፅናዕቲ ክተቕርቡ ትደልዩ/ያ ተመራመርቲ ብኽብሪ ንዕድም፡-

• ሥነ-ትውፊታት (ሥነ-ቃል፣ ሃገረ-ሰባዊ ልምዲ፣ ቁስ ባህሊ፣ ትውን ጥበብ) ትግራይ፣ ኩናማ፣ ሳሆ
• ጉማየን ባህሉን (ብፍሉይ)
• ቋንቋታት ትግራይ፡- ኣመፃፅኣን ምዕባለን
• ሥነ-ልሳንን ባህላዊ ሓድጊታትን ኣብ ሕልገታ መንነት
• ዕንወትን ፀነተን ቕርሲ ክልል ትግራይን በሰልኡን
• ሕውየት ዕንወት ሓድጊታትን ሥነ-ልቦናዊ ጉድኣትን
• ባህሊ ኣፈታትሓ ጎንፅን ዛንታት ሰላምን
• ብፍሉይ ምስ ባህልን ልምድን ህዝብታት ኢሮብን ኩናማን ዝተኣሳሰሩ ኣርእስታት ነተባብዕ

እቲ ማራ ፅሑፍ ትሕቲ 300 ቃላት ኾይኑ ርእሲ እቲ መፅናዕቲ፣ ምሉእ ስም፣ ዝመፀሉ ትካልን ኢሜልን እቲ መቕረባይ ከካትት ይግባእ። ውፅኢታት እዚ ዓውደ-መፅናዕቲ ብጥራዝ መልክዕ ክሕተም እዩ። እቲ ማራ ፅሑፍ (abstract) መረከቢ ግዜ 16 April ፍርቂ ለይቲ ኣቆፃፅራ ጀኔቫ ኾይኑ ናብ ኣድራሻ ኢሜል gumaye.org@gmail.com ይስደዱ/ዳ። ዝተመርፁ ፅሑፋት ክሳብ 24 April ኣብ ዘሎ ግዜ ክነፍልጥ ኢና።  ኣብቲ ዓውደ-መፅናዕቲ ድማ መፅናዕቶም ብኣካል ወይ ብzoom ከቕርቡ ትፅቢት ይግበር። ብዝተኸኣለ መጠን እቲ ዓውደ መፅናዕቲ ኣሳታፋይን ንጀመርቲ ተመራመርቲ ዘበረታትዕን ኾይኑ ኣብ ፅፈትን ፅሬትን ሳይንሳዊ ምርምራት ነትኩር። የቐንየልና! ኣዳለውቲ ኮሚቴ
